Flower Show Was
Heralded Event
PORT ORFORD—In spite of
drizzling weather last Saturday
and Sunday afternoons the flow
er show, put on by the Sunset
Garden club here and Sixes-Eln
Garden club, was a success. Many
visitors from out of town at
tended and many were the re
marks of praise for the event.
Judge of entries was Mrs. Hope
Clevenger of Bandon. Fern Town-
ley acted as clerk, recording the
prize winners. Several entries
were too late for judging but
were left on display.
The plant sale, presided over
b” Mrs. Ivar Fristrom, sold out
early, except for one or two
containers.
Over $10.00 was taken in at
the silver tea. Much difficulty [
was experienced in tea making,
due to highway work which cut
off the water to the grade school
both days. This also hindered the
flower display somewhat as all
water had to be carried from
nearby homes.
Approximately $25.00 will be
added to the fund for shrubbery
to landscape the grade school
grounds as the result of the
co-operation of members of the
two garden clubs participating.
This is the first attempt for
these two organizations to st^ge
* such an event, and according to
members, it is hoped that will
become an annual event.
