Storm Wrought
Little Damage In
Southern Oregon
The storm which hit the west
coast with the fury of a tropical
monsoon, Friday and Saturday,
did little or no damage to the
southwestern part of Oregon, a
survey shows. Other than a few
trees blown down across the
roads in exposed places, people
experienced little inconvenience.
That is not true of the coast,
iron. Newport, northward. From
that city northward, the damage
increased with the distance for
some streams were sent out of
their banks, all of which did
varying amounts of damage. At
Seaside a tree across the road
on a sharp turn cost the lives of
a young boy and girl when their
car hit it in an unavoidable ac
cident.
In Washington, on northward,
the story was one of tragedy,
according to reports appearing
in Monday’s dailies. Floods in
that section wrought the most
damage.
