With many functions command
ing attention of the local people
over the week-end. and no chance
to make a survey of the number
of fish caught, the Pilot did learn
that “plenty” fish were taken in
the past several days at the
mouth of the Chetco.
The Klamath Falls singers, all
avid fishermen, took plenty of
fish home with them, canned or
otherwise.
Lee Straley, last week, caught
a 44-lb ebauty, which, in a dying
struggle, took a piece from his
left thumb. Lee had the fish put
up in cans for the days to come.
Walt Bomhoff caught five or
more, all up in the “heavy Icass,”
he told the Pilot.
W. W. (Wesley) Smith caught
a 48-lb. salmon, which he had
canned, and which he is dividing
among his three daughters, on his
trip before Dec. 1.
• Judging from the number of
boats on the river, one can pre
sume “where there’s smoke, some
fire is certain to be near.” Boats
wouldn’t be patrolling the water
for just pleasure alone.
