New Association Name Offers A Plan
“All-Year Events Aisocition” is the name decided upon for the
group which will assume responsibility of all festivals to be staged
in this area. This name was chosen with one purpose in mind on
the part of the committee: The group would like to stage four,
or possibly five, events each year, thus giving this area benefit
of that much more advertising and attraction.
No definite action has as yet been taken, and none will be until
the directors and officers are named, but talk is making the rounds
to have this group stage a river regatta, and a salmon derby in
addition to the two festivals, Azalea and Lily Blossom Time.
Founded under the plan of sponsoring all promotional events of
the area, this group plans to name committees to stage these events
that a year-round program can be made to perfect all plans for
each event. That committee which will stage Azalea Festival will
naturally have full backing of Azazlea Garden Club, which annually
staged the big flower show. A like group will oversee the Lily fes
tival, each separate and intependent of the other.

A contributor, who wishes to
write incognito, appears for the
first time in this issue. When he
approached me to ask for this
right, he assured me that he had
a “yen” to give out with a little
wit—said it would be no worse
than mine, so his column makes
its bow if such can be done.
This column, while comical in
nature, shows thought. This new
'writer hopes to convince readers
through inference, or by humor,
to become aware of conditions
he sees them. Certainly this

home games, and I know that
there never has been a time when
the individuals didn’t give good
account of themselves.
What I especially like about
the Pelican team is that bunch
of youngsters coming up. I speak,
of course, about the two West
brook boys, both in their teens,
of Dick Salvage, not yet of age;
of Don Ackley, whom I believe
is capable of seeing minor league
competition. These lads, I believe,
are headed upwards.
Baseball, and all sports for that

develops that sporting instinct
for which Americans are famous.

mind: First, the team as a whole
has been feared for its batting

Still say that there can be no
