IT SEEMS TO ME
By Dewey
Tonight, when all of us go to
tht' high school to see pictures of
the past three Lily Blossom Time
parades, and notice the prog
ress made by the local people,
in attempt to make the world
conscious of this community and
its products.
Progrt ss, in the future, nearly
everyone believes, depends upon

along lines which will gain each
year. This organization needs all
the individual support that each
of us, as citizens, can supply. It

show what it can raise.
Since I have been in the coun-।
ty, I haven't been too proud of
our showing at the county fair
and for the life of me, 1 fail to
see a reason why we shouldn’t
be proud to show our wares. The
north end of the county hereto
fore has taken the lead, and for
this reason, if no other, we should
get out and show them other
communities raise products.
In thi community I’ve seen
many prize-winning vegetables -
cauliflower, cabbage, onions, and
no doubt there have been just
scads that I never knew' about.
Joe Bush, who boasts that this
area has no peer, feels ashamed
that the little pride is shown. He
is not alone. A number of the
local people are on the fair board
and they are not too proud of
the showing of their own com
munity.
A couple of years ago, the lo-
cal chamber of commerce took
an active lead, and had a booth
which brought remarks from the
fair visitors—why can’t this he
done again!

the matter of writing and pub-,
lishing an up-to-date reliable and
readable history of our tw in coun

deal of talk in our association

well as in other
places. But it amounted to little
more than talk.
However, in the early part of
1918. our association decided to
"take a stab in the dark." as one
j mt mber expressed it. In spite
i of the fact that no funds were
I available, the association acted
upon that suggestion. The work
of collecting and gathering his
torical data and material was
begun.
The work is continuing and is
nearing the point where we are
beginning to do some of the I
actual writing. But there are a
good many blank spots t h at
need to be filled.
We have found our local news-
papers very cooperative and so
helpful in this work. Just now
I have a problem wherein we
can be mutually helpful. Your
readers are interested in matters
of history pertaining to their own
home communities. They want
their own communities to be rep-
presented in the completed his
tory.
