Christian Science Societj
Services Sunday at 11 a. m. at
r/ie I. O. O. F. hall. The public is
invited.
“Soul” is the subject of the
Lesson-«Sermon in all Churches
of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday,
August 14.
The Golden Text is “Thus saith
the high and lofty One that in-
habiteth eternity, whose name is
Holy; I dwell in the high and holy
place, with him also that is of
a contrite and humble spirit, to
revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart of the
contrite ones” (Isa. 57:15).
Among citations which com
prise the Lesson-Sermon is the
following from the Bible: "Sanc
tify yourselves therefore, and be
ye holy: for I am the Lord which
sanctify you” Lev. 20:7), togeth
er with the following correlative
passage from the Christian Sci
enee textbook: "Science and
Health with Key to the Scrip
tures,” by Mary Baker Eddy
“Soul and Spirit being one, God
and Soul are one, and this one
* never included in a limited mind
or a limited body” (page 335).

A spot check of the county court
houses by the Oregon department
of veterans' affairs recently re
vealed that an alarming number
of war veterans have neglected
to record their military discharg
es as a safeguard in the event of
loss of their original papers.
About one-half of the estimated
World V» ar 2 veterans have taken
advantage of tree recording serv
ice provided by law.
“This indicates that veterans
generally »re neglecting to pro
tect one of their most valuable :
posessions,” William F. Gaaren-
stroom, director of the state’s i
veteran department. "State law j
provides that the counties will
make this a free service. Ever^
veteran should take advantage|
of it, because in the event of loss
of his original papers because of
fire, theft, mutilation or misplace
ment, he can always obtain a
photostatic or certified copy from !
his county clerk for a small fee.” '

Every day, more and more people
are discovering that a long distance telephone call is the
quickest way to reach any point anywhere. These people,
while saving time, are value-wise as well. They know that
long distance telephone calls can be made at lower rates
after 6 p.m. and on Sundays and holidays. Why not follow
the lead of these modern-minded folks? Let a long distance
call get you there first—and for less money alter 6. pan. and
