Curry county has, in the next
year or so, a chance to make
itself famous the world over. This
random statement is meant to
induct^ readers to look about for
opport unities to exploit the last
frontier of the United States and
to form a closer co-operation to
accomplish this fact. First op
portunity is the Curry County
fair, which, up to this point, is
draw ing
attention even at
the seat of its showing at Gold

the matter. Individually there is
considerable interest, but to the
Pilot, there seems to be indiffer
ence among the people whom it
would help immensely.
The second opportunity this
county has to become noted is by
exploiting its flowers, especially
those which bloom here in the
winter time, and which the mar
kets all over the country seek
along in December, January and
February. The vehicle to exploit
this attraction of the county is
by way of a flower festival—say
the lily parade, as has been car-
ried on in this community the
past three years.
Two weeks ago, the Pilot told
ivhat people living in the Rocky
Mountain region would do to
see flowers as may be seen here.
This must not have hit a happy
note in the mind of some reader
tor he clipped out the article,
Tainted across it “Azaleas and
Lilics Stink.” The Pilot wonders
how anyone could be so disgrun
tled with life that they’d care to
go on living.
