IT SEEMS TO ME
By Dewey
Movement is well under WP?
locally to establish a permanent
“Lily Blossom Time” committee,
comparable to Rosarians at Port
land, Berrians at Newberg and
Cherrians at Salem. That talk
denotes a definite trend towaid
progress, if I see things clearly.
The aforementioned cities are
identified mostly by these events
which have become nation-wide In
popularity and drawing power. A
similar affair can easily be staged
here each year along the same
plan of action the best way to
make the world conscious of the
attractions of south western Ore
gon and especially Curry county.

north to Camp Cleawox, I had
occasion to stop at a wayside
stand for a little refreshments
for the inner man. During the
mealtime, it came out we were
from Brookings area — immedi
ately I was told by this restaur
ant man that he had seen the
1948 Lily parade, and had enjoyed
it as much as he had any Port
land Rose parades.
That put me to thinking about
the possibilities of this area in
that direction. This area has re
ceived pages and pages of pub
licity because of its lilies—all of
it good in the past. This same
type of publicity would continue
if this community would only be
come solid in a movement to see
that the lily parades become big
ger and better each year.
At Camp Cleawox, two Brook
ings girls called to the attention
of the directors of camp that they
had come a long way to attend
this camp. The camp director is
aware that this area is the home
of flowers leave it to the girls
to do this advertising, although
neither was conscious of the fact
she had done It.
This proposed lily committee
has an innovation I certainly do j
like. Instead of having représen
tallies of each organization, it
has been proposed that different
types of industry furnish the rep-
icsen tat Ives. This would mean,
under the new plan, three from
the lily growers, three fiom the
lumber industry and three from
business.

“Most Beautiful Tavern”
Pine Cdhe Tavern, recently re
modeled by Norris Kemp, was
written up in “Tavern News" as
being one of the most beautiful
taverns in the state of Oregon,
because of its uniqueness, and odd
rustic beauty.
Also in a recent mail was an
inquiry for pictures of the es-
tablishment so that further pub-
licity might be given the newly-
remodeled concern. Mr. Kemp has
obliged, he told the Pilot.
