cording to Frank C. Brod rson,
president of Centennial Inc., a
non-profit organization formed to
celebrate the 100th anniversary
of Pacific University and the For­
est Grove section of the Tuala­
tin plains.
The gigantic Centennial pro- ।
duction will be presented on a
175-foot stage with hundreds of
props including horses, wagons,
and 300 appropriate costumes es­
pecially brought in from Holly-’
wood.
Community organizations and!
social clubs have an opportunity [
to participate in the pageant|
through a cast auction pian ini
which various local groups will
provide the principals for each
of the show’s 16 scenes. Adults
and children alike, will be called
upon to take part in this ambi-.

More than 12.000 acres of ir-
rigable public land comprising
104 farm units are being opened
to homestead entry in Wyoming
by the federal bureau of reclama-j

veterans of World War 2, the.

Applications must be filed by
July 12 with the Superintendent. I

One hundred of the homesteads
are near Ralston, which is six
miles from Powell and 20 miles
from Codv on Wyoming Highway
No. 14. The other four are three
miles north of Cody.
The lands are described as raw,
with about one-third covered
with sagebrush and the remainder
with native grasses. Soils, the rec­
lamation buureau says, consists!
primarily of sandy loam under-1
laid with gravel.
“Adaptable crops,” according to
the bureau, “include alfalfa, clo-
ver. wheat, barley, oats, beans,
peas, potatoes and sugar beets.
Legumes arc recommended as
crops for the first few years. Cat­
tle, sheep-raising and dairying
are important industries, and hogs
and poultry do well. Applicants
must have $3000 in cash, assets
or farm equipment, two years of ■
farming experience, good health,,
character references and must in-
tend to farm as an occupation.
This will be the third home­
stead opening in what is known
as the Heart Mountain division of
the Shoshone reclamation project.
There have already been 102 vet- *
erans of World War 2 settled on
adjoining farm units offered by
the government since the war.
Your county service officer be­
lieves this warrants investiga­
tion by world war 2 veterans
