Angeles where he was engaged
in oil drilling. Moving with his
family, he came to Del Noi te
county in 1928 where he was em­
ployed in rock drilling. For the
past, six years he has lived at
Smith River, where he has been
prominent in fishing business and
guide for the many fishermen on
Smith River.
Surviving are his widow, Mabel
of Smith River, a daughter, Mrs.
Myrtlp Horn of Crescent City, a
gon, Robert of Harbor, a niece.
Fay Loomis of Los Angeles, and
five grandchildren, Jackie a n d
Betty Jane Horn, Dawn, Michelle
and Rodney Browne.
Interment was at Smith River
cemetery. Pall bearers were in­
timate friends: Doug Hollings­
worth, Jerry McBride, George
Raymond, Alf Goodlin, Joe Sier-
ka and Vance Bolick.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Westbrook j
have returned home from Port­
land where they were called by
the death of her mother, Mrs.
Elizabeth Lane, who died March
16, at Portland. Funeral services
were held March 19. Surviving
are the widower, Walter Lane,
one daughter, Mrs. Roberto West­
brook of Smith River, a son, By­
ron Lane of Seattle, five grand­
children and a sister, Mrs. A. J.
Binder of Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Maris have
purchased the lovely house and
lot from Mr. and Mrs. William
Buckner, south of town on Hwy.
101, next to Westbrook Market.

on March 16. They have named
the little miss, Cynthia Marie.

Mr. and Mrs. Karl Knutson
were able to bring their little
daughter, Jean, home the latter
part of the week, but had to
take her back to Eureka Sunday
to have her condition checked by
their doctor. She underwent a
mastoid operation the first of last
week and is reported doing well.
