IT SEEMS TO ME

Remarks in this column come
not from local fans who attended
the district tournament at Coos
Bay, but mainly from people in
Gold Beach a n d other county
districts, so will give Pilot read
ers an idea of the conduct of
athletic contests over the state
as far as "B" tournaments are
concerned.
Schools represented at the dis-
trict tournament permit ted the
A school officials to conduct the
tournament, theit first mistake.
B schools arc beneath the dig
nity of A schools, which feel su
perior, conduct their tournaments
in a su/srior manner, anti feel
that they can be sup rior before
boys who have earned the righ t
to represent their various coun-
tics in the tournament.

Other county schools, who had
covetous feelings toward the so-
called county championship, were
first to come on the floor after
the tournament, Saturday night
and tell Brookings and Riddle
players that they never had be
fore seen such amateurish refer
eeing. Among this group was Mr.
Hawkins of Ophir, who was by
no means circumspect in his re
marks.
Boys who win under such cir
cumstances, as well as those who
lose, lose more than the game—
they have lost faith in mankind
faith which could easily carry
them to greater victories later
in life. The only solution for re
lief is for the state athletic as
soc uit ion to hold a school for of
ficials, and standardize the offi
ciating.
'rhe Pilot wishes, to remind the
lads who felt that they had been
given a "raw deal" that life is
quite a bit that way—survival
of the fittest. However, later in
life, they will find out that this
practice has been all wrong.
Brookings walked off the floor
Saturday night by far the most
popular with the fans, despite
what a certain official might've
done to them. After all, public
opinion counts for something.

the Lord’s Supper. In the words
of our Lord, "As oft as ye do it,
ye do it in remembrance of me."
This is exactly what we are try

Lord’s Supper. We remind our
selves again and again when we
gather about the Lord’s Supper
of His atoning work and what
His salvation means to us and the
great hope that He instills in our
