Rod and Gun Club Doings—
In opposition to the proposed
closure of Chetco River above
Bruce Hole, the Chetco Rod &
Gun Club followed its letters,
telegrams and telephone calls
with a delegate sent in the per
son of Bob Perkins, who was
sent to the Game Commission
hearing held at Portland, last
Friday, Jan. 28.
There is no one in this area
better qualified to present the
views ot this organization than
Bob, and all sportsmen who un
derstand and appreciate the prob
lem facing this district were
deeply grateful when, disregard
ing other personal interests, he
agreed to represent the club at
this hearing. .
DOUBLE-HEADER
As is its practice, no immedi-'
ate response was forthcoming at
the hearing, but favorable action
is anticipated when the commis
sion has studied all aspects of the
case. It is unfortunate that rec
ommendations for such closure
of our stream should have reach
ed the game commission which
believed that it was acting in
"nod faith and particularly de
plorable since it is understood
that the Southwestern Oregon
Sportsmen’s association has pre
sumed to speak for this area
where they have no representa
tion and therefor no basbis for
an opinion. This was done with
out consulting our local organiza
