Commercial Crab
Fishing Re-Opened
PORTLAND - ~ In accordance
with provisions of General Or
der No. 5, the fish commission,
this week announced that official
notice is given to fishermen and
the industry that recent examin
ations of the conditon of the crabs
in the off-shore waters of Ore
gon disclosed that the over-all
percentage of soft-shell crabs in
one of the two areas on the coast
— namely, Area 1, has decreased
to less than 10% on findings of
the fish commission as of Dec. 14.
In the above-ementioned order,
the commission designated and
described Area 1 as “all waters
of the Pacific ocean lying eff or
adjacent to the coast of Oregon,
and northerly of a line projected
duewest from the highest point
of Cascade Head.”
Since less than 10% of the crabs
in Area 1 are now found to be
soft-shell, the fish commission of
ficially announces that, in accord
ance with provisions of said or-
der, Area 1 will be opened to the
commercial crab fishing on Dec.
28, 1948 and that it is unlaw
ful to place pots in this area prior
to this date. .
The open season in Area 1 will
continue in force and effect until
it is again found by the commis
sion that the overalll percentage
of soft-shell craps is in excess
of 10%.

‘‘Christian Science” is the sub-
I ject of the Lesson-Sermon in all
. Churches of Christ, Scientist, on
I Sunday, Dec. 26.
The Golden Text is “Great is
i the Lord, and greatly to be prais
ed in the city of our God, in the
| mountains of his holiness” (Ps.
is 1).
Among % citations which com
prise the Lesson-Sermon is the
following from the Bible: “And
I saw’ another mighty angel come
down from Heaven, clothed with
a cloud; and he had in his hand
a little book open” (Rev. 10:1-2)
together with the following cor
relative passage from the Chris-
textbook, “Science
t iän
and Health with Key to the Scrip
tures,” by Mary Baker Eddy:
“Truth has furnished the key t y
lb ‘ kingdom, and w ith this key
Christian Science has opened the
door of the human understand
ing.” (page 99).
MERRY CHRISTMAS

lines about *the visitors to the
manger did later: “They returned
glorifying God,” and “they de
parted into their own country by
another way.” But these are fre
quently forgotten. Nearly every
church pageant or nativity play
end with a tableau of the group
around the manger or the vari
ous visitors making inconspicu-
ous and meaningless exits down
the aisles, or off into the wings.
Where did they go? What did
they do? So, for this reason we
have chosen for the subject of
Sunday morning’s sermon “Where
do we go from Bethlehem?”
The subject for the evening
sermon is “John, whom Jesus
loved.” Dec. 27 is St. Johns Day
This service is especially given
for the Masons of our commun
ity. We are cordially inviting all
Masons to attend this service.
Friday evening, after the pro
gram at the Christmas tree, the
young people are asked to gather
at the parsonage before they go
carolling.
The young people are planning
a watch night service which will
be conducted on Dec. 31. Young
people and adults are invited to
this affair. The service will be
gin at 8:30 and continue untii
after midnight.
Just a reminder to people of
this community. If you have any
wearable used clothing that you
no longer need, please bring them
tc the church, that we might re
send them to needy people in
Europe. Clothes for children and
adults alike are acceptable.
