    BROOKINGS-HARBOR PILOT, Brookings, Oregon
THURSDAY. DECEMBER 2, 1948.
Pomona Grange
Votes Four 4-H
Scholarships, 1949
Four outstanding club mem
bers from Curry county will at
tend summer school at Corvallis
next June at the expense of Po
mona Grange and Henry Adolph-1
sen, according to action taken by !
the Grangers at the last county
wide meeting in 1948.
Mr. Adolphsen matches the
Grange contribution. Last year,
board, tuition, room, and hos
pitalization fees cost $24.00 for
each delegate attending the two
weeks session.
The executive committee, Mrs.
A. P. Sweet and County Agent
R. M. Knox, will develop rules
for the contest and selection,
which will be submitted to the
Pomona Grange at their next
meeting to be held at Sixes on
February 19. Henry Adolphsen,
Port Orford; Clarence Brooks,
Langlois and Fred Adams, Ophir,
comprise the executive commit
tee of Pomona.
This announcement i s being
/made early to encourage more
competion for the awards, said
J. O. Phipps, Pomona Master.
Club members who organize
early and carry a good project
will have an advantage, suggests
Aldene Roberts, who handles the
club program in the county ex
tension office. Club members and
interested parents are urged to
contact her for enrollment blanks
and additional information on the
contest.

Breaking a precedent, the Pa

of all post-season games.
Oregon and California didn’t
meet during the season, and this
fact caused quite a division in the
Pacific coast conference.
