afternoon at Portland, with elec­
tion of a new district governor
and th e luncheon of the Portland
club, w here attendance was re ­
ported to be well over 400 Ro-
ta ria n s.

re c to r of Rotary International,
w’ho reported some 300 new clubs
being form ed in the past year,
w ith the world-wide membership
gaining several thousand.

E uropean affair, spoke Tuesday
m orning on conditions in Greece,
w here he recently visited. He viv­
idly described the tactics used by
R ussia in creating and keeping
th e various countries in perpet­
ual turm oil.
"The Marshall plan” he stated,
"w hile imperfect in more ways
th an it is good, is the only sane
plan so far suggested, and its
psychological eff€M?t will accomp­
lish much in settling the unrest
of th e rem ainder of the world.
