Money Needed For Salary Of Director
In Charge of Coos an Currv Counties
Since a Boy Scout council w as set up for C urry county in May,
1947. it becomes necessary for C urry county to raise $600 for pay
m ent of its portion of the salary of the regional director, who has
charge of Coos and C urry counties for Oregon T rails council, head-
q u art grs at Eugene,
Of this $600 fund necessary Cor the county to raise, this area
m ust assum e responsibility for one-third, or a sum of $200. M istak
en ideas a re m aking the rounds concerning the necessity of raising
this fund, and have been m isleading to the point of m any asserting
th a t it was not necessary in Brookings and H arbor.
This fund, it must be understood, is necessary for national help
for th e scouting movement in the county. W ithout this fund, th ere
will lx' no connection w ith Oregon T rails Council, and probably no
local troop.
The Cub com m ittee, composed of T. S. Abbott, A. P. H endricks
and H om er H aggerty, and the Scout com m ittee, composed of Mike
Page, Bob Perkins, C harles Low, N. N. N eufeld and Dewey Akers,
to g e th e r w ith the Sea Scout com m ittee, T hor Ask. S tan P atterson,
Jesse H oagland and E lm er P ark er, will accept any donations from
individuals, clubs or organizations tow ard this fund. A convenient
