SALEM Eligible survivors of
world w ar 2 veterans who died
a fte r receiving th e ir term inal
leave bonds should w rite the
Federal Reserve Bank in San
Francisco in order to arran g e
for cashing in the bonds. George
E. Sandy. Oregon director of
veterans affairs, said early this
week.
Sandy explained th a t these
bonds, while non-negotiahle for
five years by the veteran him
self, may he cashed in by s u r
vivors in the following order, in
event of the v eteran ’s death.
First, wife (or husband) and
children in equal shares; and
second, the parents (or grand-
; parents, step-parents, or parents
‘through adoption). N either broth-'
ers. sisters nor o ther relatives
are eligible to receive payment.
If the veteran left none of the
above listed surviviors. the bonds
revert to the governm ent.
The survivor should w-rite to
the district Federal Reserve bank
at San Francisco 20. Calif., for
the proper forms, which must be
processed through th a t bank be-
for the bonds can be converted.
In the cast' of world w ar 2
veterans who died before apply
ing for th eir term inal leave
bonds, the survivors should go
t a post-office, a veteran ’s service
officer, or the departm ent of vet-
je ra n s affairs, either Portland or
Salem, for the proper applica-
tion blanks.
F u rth e r inform ation can be
obtained at the P ortland Federal
Reserve Bank. 731 S. W S tark
