Deadhead Time GET YOUR DEAD ON WITH PHIL LESH AND FRIENDS AT THE CUTHBERT By Charles Gearing G rab your tie-dye, folks. Phil Lesh and Friends will visit Cuthbert Amphithe- ater for a jam under the sun in mid June. They’ll be looking for Eugene’s cohort of Deadheads to welcome them to the stage. Since Jerry Garcia’s death, bassist Lesh has worked on a number of projects with different artists, co-founding Furthur with former Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir and forming his own group, Phil Lesh and Friends. The group is true to its influences, playing an array of Grateful Dead favorites. At their most recent show April 10, Lesh and Friends played the Skull and Roses Festival in Ventura, California. The band’s setlist was 16 J U N E 2 , 2 0 2 2 groovy, with “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo,” “Franklin’s Tower,” “Iko Iko” and “St. Stephen” to kick off the show. Lesh and Friends have been known to mix in covers from other classic rock groups. They played The Band’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece” during their four-night showing in Port Chester, New York, in 2021. The group’s Cuthbert show will mark the second appearance of their summer tour, which runs through the next few months before ending in mid October. After playing in Eugene, they’ll head to Redmond, Washington, the following day, and Bonner, Montana, five days later. Phil Lesh and Friends is Saturday, June 11 at the Cuthbert Amphitheater. Gates open 5:30 pm, show at 7 pm. Tickets $55 to $95. E U G E N E W E E K LY . C O M
