Nothing says love like loving your rights this Valentine’s
week! And that includes your right to remain silent.
Eugene-based Civil Liberties Defense Center is holding a
free Know Your Rights Training, open to all community
members. The CLDC will teach you what your “constitution-
al rights are and how they apply to protest, direct action
and demonstration,” the legal nonprofit says. They will
help you learn the “magic words” to say while interacting
with law enforcement to keep you and your friends safe.
The folks from the CLDC will “walk you through the legal
system and what to expect if you are arrested.” And the
free training will discuss the “ways the government and
law enforcement try to suppress our movements, and how
you can stay resilient to repression.” Protect yourself and
your community.
CLDC Know Your Rights Training on Campus is 5:30-7:30
pm Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Room 129, Mckenzie Hall on the
University of Oregon campus. Go to CLDC.org for more info.
