t is with great sadness that I announce
the passing of our Precious Doober Kitty,
my Beautiful Baby Boy, Elton, who
passed from this life peacefully, this past
Friday night. Words cannot express the joy and
gratitude we feel for having shared in his life.
Some of Elton’s talents and hobbies
included an ability to be completely present,
copious time for snuggling was a hallmark,
extreme merriment over all things small
and shiny (paperclips were never allowed
XQDWWHQGHG ¿QGLQJDZDUPODSSRXQFLQJRQ
insects at sunset in the summertime (though
never a hunter, I think it may have something
to do with the shiny silver things) pawing
under a door he wanted open (skills), face on
face resting (need I say more), napping for
hours on end (sometimes in very odd places)
he was a good listener and never tired of my
endless I love yous, or to hear yet again, he
was the most beautiful boy in the world. He
woke early each morning so as to enjoy our
time together. He made pies (story for another
day) and was patient most always (barring
dogs and delayed meal times) purring in my
ear as I fell asleep/slept, or anyone who’d let
him for that matter (he had genius orchestral
purring abilities, sometimes bordering that
of a mac truck) he possessed claws he never
once used in anger (even given the constant
harassment and steady stream of adoration).
He was an enthusiastic bather who always
made time for a proper mani-pedi. He was
quite perfect in every way.
Elton was co-founder and President of our
“Mutual Admiration Society” from which
I have been a benefactor for years. He has
kept me company, loved me unconditionally
(providing the food thing is covered) helped
me transition when our daughter left for
college and has basically been a member of
our family since adopting him from Greenhill
nearly 13 years ago.
Elton of course has always had many
admirers. If you were lucky enough to stroll
past the sidewalk at 21 st and Lincoln whilst he
took his “sidewalk time” then chances are, you
too could not resist, and thus joined the many
(hundreds) who have stopped to greet him, and
stroke his baby soft fur, usually while he laid
on his back with his feet in the air, completely
relaxed, The Zen Buddha Kitty he was.
Thank you to our vet Elise from Healing
Paws Wellness Center, to the staff of The
Emergency Vet Clinic (incredibly empathetic
and loving) to our neighbors Dave and Vickie
for caring for Elton the times we were away,
and to our friends and family for your support
and understanding during our time of loss.
Elton was preceded in death by his most
beautiful brother Mister Mister, and is survived
by his family Michelle, Shogan, Natasha, and
Little Michelle. We will be observing a minute
of silence in Elton’s memory on Sunday at
noon and ask you to join us wherever you may
be in remembering your special friends and
family members.
Donations of love can be made in Elton’s
memory to anyone who needs it…
He would have liked that!
