What better way to punctuate this beautiful,
hot summer than with pride? The Eugene/
Springfi eld 2012 Pride Festival, that is.
The opening ceremonies start at noon on
Saturday, Aug. 11, at Alton Baker Park ($5
sug. don.), and the celebration continues
until 7pm. Trai La Trash and Daphne Bertha
Storm will emcee, while bands from Wetsock
to Sugar Tits keep the party hopping. The
Imperial Sovereign Court of the Emerald
Empire — featuring Miss Gay Pride Oregon
2012, among others — struts its stuff at
3pm, building anticipation for its Aug. 18
Coronation 2012 at Valley River Inn. A vast
array of booths and vendors will set up shop
at the event — everyone from Basic Rights
Oregon to Eugene Kettle Corn. Afterward,
head down to The City, in Kowloon’s at 2222
MLK Jr. Blvd., where Pride vendor Lipz
Dances hosts a Pride Celebration and Lipz
Women’s Dance Party, 7-11pm ($8).
