FILM Ophelia’s Place Thursday
Oakhurst is a nationally acclaimed
bluegrass-ish quintet from Denver, Colo.,
that’s as versatile as it is original. This
band creates mood-shifting roots-rock
Americana, weaving together modern
and old-timey infl uences from Yonder
Mountain String Band to John Hartford.
Having broken onto the national scene
by way of festival touring, Oakhurst is
part hoedown and part heartbreak when
it comes to a live performance. This is
a group that can gig to any occasion,
and it has been touring hard for the
last six years straight, bringing music
to the masses. Oh yeah, and the band
has released yet another album to
complement the other fi ve it’s cranked
out over the years.
