NEWS BRIEFS
FREE DENTAL CLINIC
A free dental clinic for extractions only is coming up
Saturday, June 23, for people who are uninsured, low
income, have a tooth that needs to be removed, and have
not had recent dental care. Patients need to have a phone
number where they can be reached to confirm appointments.
The event is being organized by the Occupy Eugene
Medical Clinic in cooperation with St. Vincent de Paul.
Dentists can work on only one quadrant at a time so only
one upper or lower jaw, left or right side, can be treated at
this clinic. A limit of 20 people can be treated.
The clinic will be held at the St. Vincent de Paul’s
Service Station on Highway 99. The two check-in times
are 8:30 and 10 am. Contact Sue at sierralupe@comcast.
net to get on the list.
CORRECTIONS/
CLARIFICATIONS
In our Summer Guide last week, we
inadvertently had the seventh annual Tayberry
Jam listed under the wrong date. The big
“permaculture living summit and music festival”
will be Aug. 3-5 at Cougar Mountain Farm in
Saginaw. See cougarmountainfarm.com for
details.
Also in Summer Guide, the correct date for
the Butte to Butte walk and run is July 4. See
runnerspace.com for details. And left out of the
listings was the Maude Kerns Art Center’s July
4th Freedom Festival Fireworks show with
music, beer garden and family friendly activities
at Alton Baker Park starting at 3:30 pm. See

College towns are real estate investors’ “best kept
secret,” according to the CNN Money website June 6.
The story says colleges and universities add stability to
the rental market regardless of what the economy is
doing, and “Even developers who have cut back on
other housing projects are building in college towns.”
Meanwhile, CNN Money reports Corvallis and Eugene
were listed as number 4 and 5 in a list of metro areas in
the U.S. where home prices are “starting to turn.” The
story cites strong rental sales near UO and OSU and a
lowering unemployment rate in Corvallis.

You are invited to a public talk about the link between our
health and the way our communities — especially our
