OUT/LOUD is the biggest women’s queer music festival in the
Northwest and it’s happening right here in downtown Eugene in Kesey
Square. Once called Lesbopalooza, the name was changed to be more
inclusive. The day will be fi lled with spoken word artists, slam poetry
and an onslaught of performers including Tender Forever, Siche Green-
Mitchel, Nikole Potulsy and many more. OUT/LOUD celebrates the
diversity of queer women and is also paving the way for progressive and
alternative music in Eugene. With a beer garden full of local brews and
food vendors serving up scrumptious snacks, you can’t go wrong with
this event.
Headlining the festival is Nina Sky, a genre and boundary-broaching
music group made up of identical twins from Queens, NY, with as much
talent as it has attitude. Nina Sky fuses hip hop, reggaeton, pop and R&B
into modern masterpieces that have caught the attention of several
high-brow record labels. The twins’ 2004 hit single “Move Your Body”
put them on the charts and they’ve been burning up tracks (and frequent
fl yer miles) ever since.
OUT/LOUD is 12pm-11pm Saturday, June 9, at Kesey Square.
