Sound/Movement/Art Camp
July 2-5 ($125/short week)
or July 30-Aug. 3
Inspired by artist Nick Cave’s Soundsuits,
join us for a week of hands-on
costuming, noise making, and artistic
movement. Learn and create with sound,
sewing, materials and movement to
assemble a suit of wonder that takes
clothing assemblage and ingenious
noise-making to unknown horizons.
Parade and performance in suits will take
place on last day of camp.
Earth Works Art Camp
July 9-13 or Aug. 6-10
Inspired by artist Andy Goldsworthy’s
movement to use the earth as his
medium. Come explore the mediums
of earth and water as we collect and
assemble earth matter into natural
creations. Allowing us to experience the
natural world in a hands-on, artistic way.
Projects will take place out doors around
Skinner’s butte and surrounding park
areas. Art works will be allowed to live
their lifespan in nature for all to admire.
A slide show of the week’s creations
will be posted online for students and
families to admire.
Recycle Scouts Camp
July 16-20 or Aug. 13-17
Learn about the life cycle of stuff! Such
as what original resources are used, how
it is made, how it is transported, how it
decomposes as well as the best ways
to recycle and reuse. This hands-on,
creative camp is intended to heighten
our awareness of all things that go into
our waste stream, whether it is trash,
recycling or compost. We will make
re-use art that teaches ourselves and
inspires others to create a cleaner and
greener tomorrow.
D I Y Camp
July 23-27 or Aug 20-24
We know DIY means do-it-yourself, but
isn’t that just a myth? Everyone has help
along the way! In DIY Camp we will learn
how to use common tools and methods
to fix and mend damaged treasures.
With these tools we’ll learn skills that
allow creative solutions to flourish.
During the week you can bring items
that need fixing or mending to work on
in camp.
MECCA Family Members receive a $25
discount per camp. For membership info:
