Laughter is one of those things said to keep us alive
longer — it’s medicinal. And while not all of us have
the same sense of humor, when it comes to stand-up
comedians, Doug Benson is a pretty good fi t for Eugene.
The self-proclaimed “professional humoredian” is headed
our way with more hysterical marijuana-logues than you
can shake a joint at.
Benson, whose fi rst performances as a stand-up
comedian were the result of a dare, has enjoyed a
noteworthy career to date, with appearances on Last
Comic Standing, Comedy Central, a movie (Super High Me)
and multiple albums to his credit. Hey, he even hosted High
Times Magazine’s Stony Awards with ganja-fueled East
Coast hip-hop icon Redman — how much more stoner cred
can a guy have?
Eugene will have to forgive Benson for coming to the
party a day late (his show lands on 4-21), but hey, you might
already have plans to celebrate other things this Friday.
Doug Benson’s standup comedy show is 7 pm Saturday,
April 21, at WOW Hall; $20 adv., $25 door.
