Sound/Movement/Art Camp Aug. 1-5
Inspired by artist Nick Cave’s Soundsuits,
this hands-on costuming, noise making,
and artistic movement class will teach
creativity with sound, sewing, materials
and movement. Kids will create a suit of
wonder that takes clothing assemblage
and ingenious noise-making to unknown
horizons. Performance in suits will take
place on last day of camp.
Earth Works Art Camp
Aug. 8-12
Artist Andy Goldsworthy has inspired
a movement that uses the earth as his
medium. Come explore the mediums
of the earth and water as we collect
and assemble earth matter into natural
creations. Allowing us to experience the
natural world in a hands-on, artistic way.
Projects will take place out doors around
Skinner’s butte and surrounding park
areas. Art works will be allowed to live
their lifespan in nature for all to admire.
A slide show of the week’s creations will
be posted online for students and
families to admire.
Recycle Scouts Camp
Aug. 15-19
Learn everything about recycling! What
is and is not recyclable. What’s our stuff
made of, how and why we can create a
cleaner and greener environment. This
hands-on camp is intended to heighten
our awareness of all things that go into
waste, whether it is trash, recycling or
compost. We will make re-use art that
teaches ourselves and others how to
create a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
DIY Camp
Aug. 22-26
We know DIY means do-it-yourself, but
everyone has help along the way! In DIY
Camp will learn how to use the common
tools of the trade, fix and mend neglected
treasures, and really conquer the battle of
creating the solutions, and learning the
skills that allow inspiration to flourish.
Come to camp with a project in mind
and we will tackle it, or find a new
project to begin.
