most glamorous event of the entire

Serving up a heaping helping of rootsy
rock with blues, R&B and funk influ-
ences, the Radiators are one of those
bands that everyone loves. Not to mention
that their funky grooves will get you off
your butt and into the dance area. See
music story on page 11.

competition and coronation that ushers in yet
another generation of Eugene’s royalty.
The Winery Tour
Alton Baker Park
Saturday morning, Cost: $25
We can’t really think of a better way to
spend the day than to bike around from win-
ery to winery through the bucolic country-
side sampling wines and taking in the fabu-
lous views. The tour starts at Alton Baker
Park and stops by the Hinman Vineyards
and King Estates among others. Log on to
www.oregon-adventures.com to register or
call 782-2388 for more information.

The Salon des Refuses
110 W. Broadway
Open to the public daily from noon ‘til 10pm
(after the Celebration ‘til 6pm) until the
closing reception on Fri Oct. 22. FREE
For some, ending up in the Salon des
Refuses, where the artwork refused by the
Mayor’s Art Show is displayed, is a terrible
disappointment. For others it’s an honor.
We agree with the latter interpretation. The
art is always a little more interesting, a little
more political and a little more in-your-
face. We like that.
Tree Climbing
West Park Blocks, near 8th & Oak
Sunday, Sept. 19, 11am - 4pm FREE
Free your inner child from quiet time and
come out to play. Go climb a tree with the
Pacific Tree Climbing Institute. Recently
founded, the institute hopes to instill a bet-
ter understanding and love of big trees by
hauling people high into the canopies.
