The opening night of the 2003 Eugene Symphony season features Berlioz’s
Symphonie Fantastique and recent works by Pulitzer Prize-winning American
composer Aaron Jay Kernis in the Hult’s Silva Hall. Season highlights will include
Shostakovich’s virtuosic Violin Concerto, an evening with Philadelphia composer
Jennifer Higdon and a performance by cello superstar Yo-Yo Ma. Opening night
features a pre-concert “Meet the Composer” event with Kernis in the Hult’s Studio

The 2003 Eugene Celebration, “Heart of the City,” is back in downtown Eugene. The
highlights are many, featuring a parade, street performances, numerous musical acts
on multiple stages, children’s activities, art exhibits, information booths and much,
