ren’t you just dying to get out — out of those wool sweaters and Gore-Tex rain
pants, out of covered-toe shoes and scarves and mittens — out of the house and
onto the trails, into the nooks and crannies of the great wide open? The long
stretch of damp and chilly is just about over, making way for the sunshine, languorous
sunsets and clear, warm nights right on the horizon. Soon enough, it’ll be all about the
sound of flip-flops, the glimpse of bare ankles and shoulders, the smell of hot coals as the
neighbors fire up the Smokey Joe.
Pack the sweaters and rain pants away, and take a look here for some easy ways to
make the most of your summer. —Bobbie Willis

The line between work and recreation can get a little blurry
for craft brewers Kurt and Rob Widmer. One minute they might
be inspecting hops and barley. Which is a lot of work. Then they
might be writing off a trip to the pub the next. Which is definitely
a pleasure. Then there are the meetings with the accounting
department. Not fun. Followed by the daily samplings of their
