Right down on the main drag of Drain
you will find the local grocery store. When
I say local, I mean the only actual Grocery
store anywhere around for miles. Yea, we’ve
all heard about the dwindling grocery store
phenomenon, You know, the small, family
owned, often rural, grocer who has plenty of
fresh produce, meats, a good selection of dry
goods and staples as well as all the shelves full
of the foods we love. Few and far between it
appears. Not in the urban markets though, it’s
a different problem there. Corporate Grocers
are looking to take over those markets and

Drain City Civic Center still a Source of Pride

Nearly 40 years of Community Service and going Strong
The Civic Center located at 205 West “A” Avenue in Drain has been an iconic fixture for nearly 40 years, since 1985.
Not only is it the home of the Mildred Whipple Branch of the North Douglas Library District but it has been central as a
gathering place for a host of events, banquets, classes, workshops and meetings of every type.
