weekend, Aug 15-16, at the Country
Squire Airpark, organizers say.
The muster w ill pit teams from
up to 60 West Coast fire depart­
ments in races testing firefighting

The event is scheduled from 10

distance, or to spray down a target

Teen-agers may compete in

The muster teaches teamwork, a
crucial skill in any era, but “ tests
only a little bit of the skills we use
now," Hanson said.
Seventy trophies w ill be award­
ed.

Civic groups from Sandy w ill sell
concessions, hats and T-shirts, and
professionals who run the Portland
Hose Festival's beer garden w ill
cater the Sandy Fire Muster's ver­
sion.
The muster is well-received by
the Sandy area. Hanson said, poin­
ting out that 125 businesses pur­
chased advertisements in the pro­
gram and the Clackamas County
Bank donated $500 for the pro­
grams themselves.
The muster's official sponsor,
Hamms Beer, gave $2,000
