electronically created by inform ation ted into the com
puter ITie results are sometimes hard to understand

sounds exactly as you would
D igitization is probably the most effective and best
sounding form o f com puter "ta lk However, this pn»-
cess takes expensive equipm ent. more computer mem
ory and more tim e. To digitize you need a special
microphone that plugs into your computer and the
software that comes w ith your microphone W hen you
talk into the microphone. the computer w ill digitally
(num erically) store your exact sounds on the disk This
takes up lots of space, but the results are worth it
Today you can hear voices in kids' computer games
and in educational software Hie computerized voices
actually "talk" and tell you if you got an answer wrong
or right They also tell you the correct answer
