Sandy resident Henry Paul Brune
died May 15 at a Gresham care
center at the age of 90
M r. Brune was born in St. Paul.
M inn., on Sept. 20, 18944 He was rais
ed in M innesota w here, a fte r
finishing his schooling, he began
working as a farm er
He later owned a Ford dealership
w ith his brother and also was
employed as an electrician
He moved to Oregon in 1929 and liv
ed and farm ed in the Portland area
On Nov 26,1935, he m arried Erm a
Rebstock They remained in the
Portland area until 1954, when they
moved to the Sandy area, where he
was
in
H arry Albert Smith died at his
home in Welches on May 14 He was
62
M r Smith was born Jan. 19,1925, in
Pierre, S I) He was raised in South
Dakota, where he enlisted in the U S
Navy He served in both World War
II and Korea
After his discharge, he lived in
Montana for 10 years prior to moving
to Oregon in the early 1960s He made
his permanent home in the Hoodland
Harry worked at various occupa
tions prior to hts retirem ent
Survivors include hts brothers and
sisters Hazel Gaither of Wemme,
Howard Smith of I-ik e Oswego,
Hearst Sm ith of M ulino, Helen
Dunham of Boring. Harlon Smith of
Sherwood, and Hannah Hall of M e ri
dian, Idaho, and many nieces and
nephews

high-level maintenance on vision and

Navy Seaman M ark A Gunderson,
son of Alan and Joan Gunderson of
Sandy, was recently deployed to the
Republic of Korea for exercise Team
S pirit aboard the A irc ra ft < a rrie r
USS Ranger
The exercise is designed to in
crease the defensive capabilities of
the Republic of Korea and the U S
Seventh Fleet
Gunderson, a 1983 graduate of San
dy Union High School, joined the
Navy in January 1985
During the 18 weeks of training,
