Eleven swimmers from the Blue
M arlin Aquatic Club traveled to Lake
Oswego Nov. 0-10 for the Piranha
Swim Team Turkey Day Swim Meet
Thirteen teams and 229 swimmers
competed at the two-day meet.
The Blue Marlins were led by
Jason Smith in the 9-10 age group: se­
cond place, 50-yard freestyle; se­
cond. SO breast stroke; third, 100 in­
dividual medley; third, 200 free;
third, 100 breast; third, 200 IM ;
fo u rth . 100 fre e ; fo u r th , 100
backstroke; fourth. SO back; and
fifth, 100 fly stroke
Other BMAC placers at the meet
were: N ikki Hanson, 9-10 age group,
seventh, 100 f ly ; Stacey Stewart, 9-10,
fourth, 200 free; Heather Doming,
11-12, seventh, SO breast; and
Richard Montgomery, 13, fifth , 200
breast.
Also com peting fo r the Blue
Marlins were Shawna Stewart and
Blake Smith in the 8-and-under age
group; Teresa Kilander, Joshua
Wendler and Jason Smith in the 9-10
age group; and Rachel M cAllister
and Janine Williamson in the 11-12
age group
The 15th Annual Tigard Aquatic
Club Sextathlon drew Blue M arlin
swimmers Friday and Saturday,
Nov. 16-17 The sextathlon consists of
six different events, w ith the winners
swimming the lowest accumulated
times.
Sarah D rill took eighth place and
Shawna Stewart 12th in the 8-and-
under division Stacey Stewart was
seventh, Nikki Hanson eighth and
Jason Smith seventh in the 9-10 age
divisions Derek Spires garnered
sixth and Scott D rill seventh in the
11-12 age group O ther BMAC
members attending were Joshua
Wendler, Teresa Kilander. Janine
Williamson and Heather Doming
Due to the closure of the Sandy
Aquatic Center because of the Sandy
Elementary D istrict levy failure, the
Blue Marlins have had only limited
workout prior to their recent com­
petitions.
Since Nov. 14 they have been allow­
ed to use the Sam Barlow High School
pool on a temporary basis for
workouts They would be able to
return to the Sandy pool if the

The Gresham Elks' annual Hoop
Shoot, a national free throw shooting
contest for boys and girls ages 8
though 13, w ill be held at the
Gresham High School gym Dec 7 at
10 a m .
All youngsters in age categories 8 9
years, 10-11 years and 12-13 years
compete for the chance to advance to
district, state, regional, and national
contests.
Due to the closure of Sandy grade
schools, students from the Sandy
Elementary D istrict are being allow
ed to compete at the F lks' Hoop Shoot
without qualifying at their school
