Olympic Track and Field
Championships advanced
to regional competition this

Washington and Idaho
In the state meet, also
held at MHCC, the Hawks
nailed down six first place
medals and set four state
Junior Olympic records.
G irl shot putters were
foremost among the record
setters, with Stephanie Mil-
jus setting a meet record
for 10-under girls on every
throw She ended with a put
of 23-4. Wendy Coleman
was also a record setter in
the shot among 13-14 girls.
Her throw was 37-6.

Most are designed to con­
trol agricultural or tree
damage. Dates varying ac­
cording to individual hunts.
In eastern Oregon, a split
general season for bull elk
is again the case for most
management units. The
firs t runs from Oct. 31
through Nov. 4 and the se­
cond from Nov. 10 through
18. In most units bulls with
visible antlers are legal
game.
In the Chesnimnus unit a
single season was set to run
from Nov. 10 through 18
w ith 21,500 perm its for
spike bulls or better
The Snake River 3-point
rule w ill continue in effect
this season w ith two hunts,
550 permits in each. The
dates are the same as for
the general bull season.
Controlled elk seasons
are proposed in many
eastern Oregon units. In
some eastern Oregon units
a controlled perm it hunt
for elk of either sex w ill
again replace the second
general bull season propos­
ed in other units.
Bow hunters w ill have an
early statewide deer and
elk season sim ilar to last
year, running from Aug. 25
through Sept. 23.
In western Oregon the
bag lim it w ill be one deer
and one spike elk through
Sept 7; after that the elk
bag lim it changes to “ one
e lk ” th ro u g h th e r e ­
mainder of the season. (In
Saddle Mountain and Tioga
units, bowhunters w ill be
allowed only cow elk or
bulls w ith three points or
larger and in the Rogue
unit, deer w ith only forked
horn or better.)
