In Jackson Hole> Wyoming
‘The show goes on’ for Eric Hadley
by HANK E M K IC H
of the show on the fourth
day of rehearsal," said
Hadley.
The show runs Monday
through Saturday, from
June 7 through September
1.
While working 15 hours a
day may not seem like fun
to some, Eric Hadley is
having the tim e of his life.
The long days were part
of the rehearsal schedule
fo r th e S an d y H ig h
graduate, who is now per
forming at the Jackson
Hole Playhouse in Jackson
Hole, Wyoming
Hadley said the intensive
10-day rehearsal period
was quite a switch from
past pro du ctio ns w ith
which he was involved.
“ In a lot of the others you
rehearse for three months
and perform maybe 10
times at the most, ’ ’ he said
“ In this show we are
rehearsing for 10 days and
performing for three mon
ths.”
At 18, Hadley is youngest
member of the cast of
“ Seven Brides For Seven
Brothers,” at the Jackson
hole Playhouse. He plays
the youngest brother, Gi
deon, in the production.
Hadley said working in
paid theater does not pro
vide any opportunities for
being lazy in learning lines.
He said he was given his
lines on May 28 and had
them memorized the next
day.
“ We were doing full runs
award at SUHS last year,
Hadley said it is because of
instructor Chris H a rris
that he got the job in
Jackson Hole.
“ He knew the directors
at Jackson Hole Playhouse
and he told me about the
opening," said Hadley.
So far, Hadley has had
few regrets about leaving
home so soon after gradua
tion to pursue a career in
the theater.
“ Some people feel that
theater is a waste of tim e,”
he said, “ but I feel many
c h a ra c te r building e x
periences happen in drama
that make a well-rounded
person."
I am doing theater, I am
happy.”

Hadley said it is possible
to make money in the
theater, but the oppor
tunities to make a great
deal of money are infre
quent
o
However, he does not
seem to be bothered by the
slim chances of "striking it
rich.”
“ Money isn't everything
in life,” said Hadley.
