district personnel have
responded to 28 alarms in­
cluding 19 first aid calls,
three chimney fires, two
minor motor vehicle ac­
cidents. one false alarm
and two mutual aids with

Sandy firefighters have
answered 709 alarms dur­
ing

City abandons after-hours hook-ups
The city of Sandy is no
longer obliged to turn on

weekends

to pay their bills on time
The Sandy City Council
Monday night OK'd an or­
dinance which establishes
a reconnection fee of $10
during office hours Delin­
quent payments will also
be required in full before
the reconnection is made
Reconnection of water ser­
vice will not be made after
5 p m Monday through F r i­
day or on weekends or
holidays
That action came despite
som > concern about possi­
ble .'.ealth hazards

dinance. service could be
re-established in the event
of a health hazard during
off hours, but the city is not
obligated because water
service turnoffs are the
result of delinquency of
bills
In other action, the Sandy
City Council:
- Endorsed an annexa­
tion request by Brad Pick­
ing to bring approximately
three acres into the city on
the north side of Highway
26 adjacent to Janz Ber­
ry land
use
Under the terms of coun­
cil approval, Picking will
provide sanitary sewer for
the property and traffic
patterns will be considered
by the city and the state
Highway Division prior to
development.

Boring man arrested after shot fired
A Boring man was ar­
rested early Sunday morn­
ing after shots were fired in
the parking lot at Toni’s
Restaurant and Lounge

charged with recklessly en­
dangering after he told
police he was shooting at
streetlights
Sandy police officers
David Farm er and Carl
Eaught were leaving Sandy
City Hall at 12:40 a m
when they heard what ap­
peared to be a large caliber
gunshot in the lounge’s
parking lot.
When they a r r iv e d ,
Farmer saw the barrel of a
rifle pointing out of the
driver's window of a pickup
truck, pointed in the direc­
tion of several cars. Twen-
ty to 25 persons were in the
line of fire.
After police arrested the
suspect, a search , of the
truck discovered a spent
30-30 caliber cartridge.
Bredenkamp was taken
to Clackamas County Jail
where he was held on $1,500
bail
Two Sandy men were in­
jured early Sunday morn­
ing when the vehicle they
were in left the road on
Tupper Road and struck a
tree.
Driver of the car, Ronald
Scott Coombs. 21, suffered
la c e ra tio n s
and
his
passenger. Michael James
U rw in , 20, suffered a
broken tooth and injured
knee in the accident.
According to local police
reports, Coombs was driv­
ing south on Tupper Road
when he lost control of his
1980 Chevrolet Monza and
crashed into a tree. He was
cited for driving with a
suspended license.
