The Pioneer junior varsity volleyball team is 11-4
after a 1510, 152 loss Tuesday at Centennial
Last week the girls downed The Dalles 1513, 15-11.
The Pioneers are coached by Gary Curtis, who
said. "This is the most ladylike and polite group I've
ever worked with, and they’re certainly the mo6t
fun.”
Curtis, in his seventh season as junior varsity
coach, has a 72-15 record
He said the girls are willing to work together, and
do a lot of things right mentally
Curtis said, "They know the varsity coach is wat

play anyone on the team in a tight game situation
Heckard. a hitter and setter, is a "s m art" player
who places the ball well, he said
Rueschenberg serves and hits well, with M uff able
to hit from anywhere
Hilliard does the job as a setter, Kostrba is a strong
side hitter, and Stroup is an "excellent passer," he
said
Thoreson is "developing as a hitter.” and has
"beautiful, beautiful hands" for a setter
