60 years, died Sept 2» in
Portland He was 74
Born July IS. IMS in Lit
tie Pine. Minn , his family
moved to the Dodge Park
area near Sandy when he
was 15
Until he entered the US
Army in 1942, he had work
ed with his father as a
mechanic at their auto
repair shop at Dodge Park
While serving during World
War 11, he was a member
of the 362nd Signal Corps in
North Africa
Returning to Sandy, he
married Bettie Marshall on
May 13, 1945 in Vancouver.

was discharged from the
service
Making their permanent
home at Dodge Park, Mr
Mickelson worked as a
mechanic until 1954 when
he began work for the city
at Portland Water Depart
ment He retired in 1870
Survivors include his
wife. Bettie, three sons.
George and Duane, both of
Sandy and Carl of Bonng.
a daughter. Bettie Picard
in Alabama, three sisters.
Jennie Parsons of Sandy.
Mary Radford of Bonng
and Metta Beatty of
Eugene, and one grand
child

held Friday, Oct 1, in the
chapel of Sandy Funeral

Mr McCabe died Sept 28
in Gresham He was 74
Bom Sept 14, 1908 on the
McCabe homestead east of
Sandy, he attended local
schools and graduated
from Sandy High School in
1928
He worked in a sawmill
for the following two years
before going to work for the
Sandy Creamery In 1931,
they moved operations to
Portland and Mr McCabe
moved to Portland with his
job
In 1940 he began work for
the Mayflower Milk Com
pany and was later
manager of the plant in
Vancouver, Wash
He
retired
from
Mayflower in 1964 and
returned to Sandy He mar
ried Kate Springer in 1967
in Vancouver While they
made
the
family
homestead their perma
nent home. Mr McCabe
kept busy raising beef and
cutting wood
He is survived by his
wife, Kate, and two
cousins

Chapel of Chimes for Helen
Gladys Findlay of Sandy
She died Oct 1 at a
Gresham nursing home
She was 73
Bom May 25. 1909 in
Laramie. Wyo . she moved
to Portland in 1917. She
graduated from Cleveland
High School in Portland
She was a member of Port
smouth Trinity Lutheran
Church in Portland Sheen-
joyed fishing, gardening
and sewing fancy hand
work
Survivors include one
son, Donald Mayes of
Portland, two daughters.
Frances Bryant of Sandy
and Corrine Roberts of
Sweet Home, a brother,
Donald Collins of Sweet
Home, six grandchildren.
13 great-grandchildren,
and many nieces and
nephews
Burial was in Gilliian
