W h at’s the differen ce b etw een the old
and n ew IRA?
First, the old IRA was only available to people who were
not participating in another qualified retirement plan. If
you had a Keogh Plan or were part of another pension
plan, you could not participate.
Now, any working person, regardless of whether or not
they have a Keogh plan or any other pension plan, is
eligible for an IRA.
Second, the deductible contribution limits have been
raised. Previously, the maximum annual contribution was
only $1500 or 15% of your gross annual income,
whichever was less.
Now you can deposit up to $2000 per year, or 100% of
your taxable income, whichever is less. If you have a non
working spouse, you may contribute up to $2250 between
you. And if both you and your spouse work, you can
each have an IRA and deduct a total of $4000 from your
N82 joint taxable income.*
H o w can I find out m ore about
the n ew IRA?
Just stop bv and see us today. We’ll lx- happv to answer
all your questions and, if you w ish, set up vour personal
IRA right on the s,x»t.

It’s a savings plan for retirement. But unlike most savings
accounts, you are allowed to deduct all contributions and
the interest earned, up until you retire.
