of Science degree, which
followed his graduation
from U of 0 , Gerry
Bowden has been with
the J.C. Penny Com­
pany.

Since joining Penney’s
management training
program in Eugene in
1955, Gerry, in addition
to military service in
1956-57, has headed
several departments in
the Eugene store. In
1965 he was promoted to
Merchandiser of Chil­
dren’s Lines in the
Portland district office.

In '69, Gerry returned
to Eugene to become
assistant manager of the
Valley River Center
store, where he says he
was fortunate to be
involved in several years
of growth and develop­
ment for the store and
surrounding community.
In early August of this
year, Gerry received his

dren; Barbara, who
works Payless in the
Seattle area, Andy, who
will be attending the U of
O this fall, and David,
who will be a senior in
high school this year.
One of Mr. Bowden’s
favorite a c tivitie s is
watching his boys parti­
cipate in sports like
soccer and basketball
and also dramatic pro­
ductions. As a family
they enjoy water skiing,
and he likes to golf.
