Leek completes training Navy Airman Brian D. Iaek, son of Carrie Stapelton of Sandy, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego. During the eight-week training cycle, he studied general m ilita ry subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the- job training in one of the Navy’s 85 basic occupational fields. Included in his studies were seamanship, close- order d rill, Naval history and firs t aid. Personnel who complete this course of in struction are eligible for three hours of college credit in physical education and hygiene. A 1979 graduate of Parkrose High School of Portland, Iæek joined the Navy in September 1979. Solar workshop set Portland Sun, in con ju n c tio n w ith P ortland General Electric Co., w ill conduct a workshop on how to build a solar water heater from 9 a.m. until p.m. Dec. 8 and 9. The workshop is lim ited to 20 participants and begins w ith a slide show and discussion of solar water heating systems. Then participants w ill build a complete solar water heating system onto a Portland home. Fee for the workshop is $30. Lunch and beverages w ill be included. Pre- registration is necessary and may be made by calling Portland Sun at 239-7470. The bride, a Sandy Union High School graduate, is the daughter of Roy and Betty Brook of Sandy. The groom, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max L. A reception was held in the social rooms of the church following the wedding. The young couple is at home in Portland.
