AFTERNOON
by Joey Sasso
CONFIDENTIAL REPORT: Television star Bob Crane had
been psychically warned that he was in terrible danger
just two days before he was beaten to death in his
Scottsdale, Ariz., apartment. The warning came from
Tamara Rand, a world renowned psychic and Crane s
girlfriend. For weeks Miss Rand had been having ominous
nightmares about Crane. Each time she had told him
about the dream and repeatedly she warned him of the
danger. According to her premonition, the end of June
was to be the most precarious time for the TV comic.
Her last words, spoken over the phone to her boyfriend,
were, "Make sure your door is locked, stay safely
snuggled in bed. turn off the lights and sleep well.” Two
days later on June 29. Crane s pajama-clad body was
found hunched under his blanket. He had been beaten
almost beyond recognition. Police say there was no sign
of a forced entry. Crane had not heeded Miss Rand’s
warning.
His
door
apparently
had
not
been
bolted . . . Ch«r Bono Allman is going all-out to recapture
that brief, shining moment she enjoyed when she was
the biggest name in show business. On the brink of being
a has-been, the 32-year-old songbird has forked over
thousands of dollars to have her bulging belly tucked in.
her housewife hips slendered and her bulbous nose
reshaped What appears to be an effort to identify with
the teenage market, which long ago forgot her, she has
struck up a romance with oddball teenthrob Gene
Simmons, leader of the rock group Kiss. "Cher is staking
everything on one last throw of the dice.” a close
associate reveals. "If she doesn't make it, she II be show
biz history like the Monkees and she knows it.
INSIDE THE TUBE: Poster queen and star of Three s
Company,’ the sexy Suzanne Somers resents the
treatment she has received from feminists. "I was told
by one of those big women's libbers.” Suzanne moans,
"that I've brought women back 30 years. And that's
disturbing to me, because I'm a woman s woman.
Whatever happened, I did it on my own. I was a pretty
girl. I could have easily moved in with somebody and
been kept and kept well but I would never settle for that.
It was always important for me to do it m yself. . . G o ld ie
Hawn and hubby Bill Hudson have become old-fashioned
parents of their two-year-old son Oliver. "We never go
to parties,” Goldie confesses
"Motherhood is so
demanding that I don’t have much energy left over at
the end of the day for parties. I never get invited to
them, anyway. Besides, I will not have a neurotic
Hollywood child on my hands ’
INSIDE THE TUBE: Stars are being lined up to film TV
spots to fight the anti-homosexual referendum on
California’s November ballot. Valerie Harper,
Streisand and dozens of others have volunteered. But
the sponsors of the campaign want some of the great
old-time film stars and so far they're not stepping
fo rw a rd . . . The biggest little star on TV. Herve
Vlllechalze. who's under four feet tall and co-stars on
Fantasy Island.' is becoming a fixture on the set of
•Charlie's Angels * The big interest for him there is
Camille Hagen, who is stand-in for Kate Jackson. When
the angels worked in Las Vegas, Herve was at Camille s
side and since they're back on the home lot in Los
Angeles, he is a constant visitor. Camille, by the way,
is five-feet-four. . , Edward Albert Jr. and Kate Wood* ' e
visited Las Vegas with marriage apparently in mind But
it seems Edward got so hot at the blackjack table they
never did get around to a wedding chapel. Anyway,
they're back in Los Angeles again, still very much in love
and still sharing the same abode . . . Kate Jackson md
