Mayor Melvin Haneberg presented the plaque won at the parade to Jaycees Buzz Ruch and Bill DeWitt. The log. which came from Multorpor Mountain near ML Hood, will leave on tour Saturday. (Post photo) Seattle-bound log begins trek Saturday The Oregon Log will start its long roll to Seattle this weekend The log, sponsored by the Sandy-Woodland and Gresham Jaycees, will travel to the U.S. Jaycee National Convention June 26-30 via stops throughout the Pacific Northwest. Jayceea accompanying the log include Stu Simonson and Buzz Ruch. Bill DeWitt, Chris Kent and Lynn Winchester The Oregon Log is an annual Oregon Jaycee project. Each year a Jaycee chapter in Oregon bids for the honor of taking the log to the U.S. Jaycee National Convention to display and promote the lumber industry in Oregon So far, the Jaycees have hauled the truck and log about 4700 miles for display in such places as Redding. Calif., Prineville and Eugene The log and truck will travel some 2269 miles by the end of this month. The Jaycees and their display are due home June 30 after the convention activities The Oregon Log and crew will depart Saturday, June 18, from Sandy and Gresham. The group will stop for lunch in .Pasco, Wash and spend the night in Spokane. Aircraft fuel truck fire extinguished Tuesday Government Camp residents were holding their breath late Tuesday morning And if they weren't, they should have been. The cab of a truck hauling some 3500 gallons of aircraft fuel caught fire just east of the Government Camp overpass on Highway 26 at approximately 11:12 a m .
