Oregon's total employment
continued to rise last month,
reaching a new April high of
982.000 This is a gain of 29,900
from A pril 1976, said Ross
M o rg an
of
the
Oregon
Em ploym ent Division.
Some of this econom ic
recovery was felt in the lumber
and wood products industry,
which reported an increase of
3,400 workers over A pril. 1976
Total employment for April of
this year stood at 76,000.
Gains were also registered in
the logging and sawmills in­
dustry. as 2,500 more people
were at work there than a year
ago
Overall employment for the
state stands at 8 4 per cent.
Short term decreases in that
rate are not now expected, as
the spring job gains normally
