tonight at the Gopher pool
The Pioneer poloists will also
host Beaverton Tuesday at 4:30

No loss provides a complete
boost to any athletic team but
Sandy was a distinct underdog
to Parkrose, a team which
finished third at state last year
In 1975 the Broncos romped
over Sandy, 24-1.
H ie Pioneers managed to
control the ball, though, and
held close before falling 17-11
"They thought they’d get
beat bad," said assistant coach
Russ Alvarez “They didn't
know they’d do so good, par
ticularly in controlling the
ball."
The Broncos' Mark Holmes
proved to be the offense of the
game, scoring nine times to
boost his team to victory
Pioneers Jeff Youngbluth
and Chris Roth shared team
honors with five apiece while
Randy Polivka made up the
difference with another goal.

Sandy came back with seven
scores in the second half, but it
was no way near enough to
corral the freewheeling Holmes
and his Bronco teammates
“The team played real well.”
said Alvarez. "We seemed to be
a little bit more organized than

Holmes and he scored
“ Otherwise we blocked quite
a few shots,controlled the game
and stole the ball often. I don t

Alvarez still felt that the
Sandy team could make more
progress
“ We’ve got to work on our

we’ll make ittostate."
