M orse named
city engineer
Jerry Morse has been named
city engineer of Gresham.
Morse, 27, form erly assistant
city engineer, has worked for
the city since August, 1971.
A graduate of Oregon State
University, Morse attended
Beaverton High School and
worked as assistant to the city
engineer in Twin Falls, Idaho
before joining the Gresham city
staff.
He received his degree in
civil engineering in 1970 and
was awarded his professional
engineering certificate from
the
Oregon
Board
of
Engineering E xam iners in
July, 1974
The city has a staff of eight in
the engineering department.
The city's engineer post is
a new one at city hall. F or
merly Kent Cox. director of
public works, held both
positions.

were awarded by the Gresham
City Council Tuesday night.
F irst State Bank was low
bidder on the th ird series
totaling $40,753 for a 10 year
period The bank bid an ef
fective interest rate of 6.2489
percent.
F irs t State was also low
bidder on a 20 year issue
totaling $156.842 at an effective
rate of 6 879 per cent.
Three other banks also bid on
the series.
Store robbed
An armed robber got away
with $412 in cash from the Swift
Mart store at 19720 SE Stark St.
early A p ril 13, according to
sheriff’s reports
The
gunman
had
an
automatic pistol and locked the
clerk inside the store when he
left, reports state.
