D r Jane Wyatt, the depart ment's consumer officer, said 11 of the 43 complaints the departm ent received about meat in February involved around m eat products that Food s a fe ty c o u rs e d a te d encouraged to take advantage of this free at-home study course Have you ever wondered about the additives that are in foods today? Or if peaticide residues remain on food sold at the supermarket? If you have, you’re not alone. M any hom em akers have been concerned lately about the safety of the food supply. To better understand some of the current concerns with food, Oregon State University E x tension Service has developed a free-lesson correspondence course on the subject of “Food Safety." The M ultnom ah County Extension Office will offer the course to homemakers In the T ri-C ounty area beginning March 4. Those who wish to take the course will be mailed a lesson every two weeks The lessons will include assignments but there will be no worry about grades Those interested in taking the correspondence course should register by Feb. 28. says Tod Hamilton, Multnomah County Extension Agent, as enrollment will be limited. To register, telephone the Extension Office In Multnomah or Clackamas counties. In addition to food additives, the course will cover foodbome illnesses, and give information on natural and organic foods.
