I But it's the sta rt of b ig g e r things What can you learn at kin dergarten’ After all. it’s Just kid stuff But kid stuff is important to kids, especially when it comes to education. At least at the Sandy kinderschool, held at the C o m m u n ity P re s b y te ria n Church, learning is serious business to the 3-year-olds there. T h e ir concentraton was evident w hile they pasted colored shapes on paper, keeping in mind how “ square,” “triangle” and “round" look. When finished, they happily curled up with favorite books for a brief “reading” period on the coxy area rug. They practiced waiting with incredible restraint as each of three tables was dismissed In turn for drinks of water. Cooperating w ith others made their circle game fun for everyone, they found. They were reluctantly quiet at rest time, spent on mats stretched out on the big rug, but enjoyed listening to a record. And they were eager to follow directions from teacher Jan Neuenfeldt when it came time to play their “ musical in struments.” No one missed a beat I t ’s all hard work, but when you’re five, work Is fun I t ’s also for a good cause—getting ready for the first grade next year. This could be the start of something big!
